How does the smartwatch measures UV? What is the UV Index? (On selected models)

The smartwatch has a UV sensor under the dial.

UV are the Ultra-Violet rays of the sun light, outside of the visible spectrum. At high exposure, the UV rays can damage the skin and increase risks of skin disease like cancer.

The UV index is a classification, from 1 to 12, of the intensity of the UV in the sunlight:

  • Low: 1-2
  • Medium: 3-5
  • High: 6-12
  • Very High: 11-12+
